Thirsty
The musical biopic, Thirsty, tells the story of Provincetown Cher impersonator Thirsty Burlington, AKA Scott Townsend.
In 2016, Margo co-wrote and directed the post-queer musical film, Thirsty for Thin Edge Films with Lisa Thomas. “For as long as I can remember, “Pelletier told Variety, “I have been conscious of gender, how its assignment fits or not with our desires. I have been drawn to the people who live their lives soul-first – people who feel a need, whatever the price, to resist the prescript attached to the male and female gender. From the moment we laid eyes on her, Thirsty just seemed like the perfect protagonist to make a film about.”
While the film addresses harsh realities, it tells an uplifting story of self-invention and survival in the style of musicals like “West Side Story” and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” The film was the ‘Opening Night Film’ of the Provincetown International Film Festival. It won: the ‘Audience Award,’ at the Harlem International Film Festival; ‘Best Narrative Feature’ at Wicked Queer Boston LGBTQ Film Festival; and the Special Jury Prize at the Portland Film Festival.
